Wessex Water and DrainSafe announce tie up.

Water company to direct its customers to DrainSafe contractors.

Wessex Water and DrainSafe (the approved quality scheme for drainage contractors) have announced the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by which Wessex Water will direct its customers who have problems with their private drains to trusted and approved DrainSafe contractors. The arrangement will commence on 2nd April 2024.

Dan Humphrey, Director of Sewerage Network at Wessex Water said ‘we are pleased to enter into the MoU with DrainSafe so that our customers can be directed to drainage contractors with the assurance that they are dealing with companies who will provide a quality service. The need to find a drainage contractor is often in an emergency and DrainSafe takes away the lottery of trying to find a company that can be trusted.’

Mark Jarvis, spokesperson for DrainSafe commented ‘we are delighted to enter into this agreement with Wessex Water. DrainSafe registered contractors are required to evidence that their operatives are fully qualified, that they treat their customers fairly and that they are fully insured to do the work they undertake. Customers in the Wessex Water area will no longer have to take a chance on which contractors to choose.’

DrainSafe was created by the National Association of Drainage Contractors to establish a quality standard that will provide assurance and peace of mind for any party that uses drainage services, be that for residential properties, non-residential properties, or even when dealing with environmental work such as highways maintenance.
